I cannot believe how many people think that being a wildlife photographer is an easy and glamorous job. They have no idea how tough it really is. I’m never home, I don’t make much money, and I have often spent a week sitting in the middle of a wet forest and not gotten a single shot. He delayed putting me on any kind of medications at this appointment, as he wanted to make sure what we were facing so that we could get the proper treatment and medication.

The next week I went back in to see the doctor and he told me that the tests results had determined that I had rheumatoid arthritis. Rheumatoid arthritis can be severely depilating and painful the doctor explained. He said with a proper diet, exercise, and pain medication that I could live a full life free of pain. He gave me several handouts about rheumatoid arthritis so that I would be well informed and also gave me the names of a couple of websites that had support groups and information on this type of arthritis.

He also gave me a prescription for a pain medication. I was worried about starting a pain medication because I was scared that I would get addicted to it or have an allergic reaction to it but he told me that the pain medication that he was putting me on Tramadol which had very low risks of addiction and very low risks of side effects or an allergic reaction. The side effects he explained were usually mild and did not cause too many problems.

He said that many studies had shown that Tramadol had immensely helped people with rheumatoid arthritis including some of his other patients.
